Nayak's Farmhouse, Kanhiwali

The house is on stilts. Elevated, it enjoys a panoramic view of the hills all around. A central avenue, which extends into staircases at both ends, is the spine of this house plan. Located on one side of the avenue and opening on to the hills, a large gallery and an overhung verandah with open terraces, characterize the architecture of this house. Timber and steel for the high-pitched roof over the hall and verandah define its distinctive form.

A private pergola terrace at the upper level provides an unusal view in another direction.
